Welcome to our student showcase! Don’t get us wrong – we’ll take any chance, anywhere, to show off and brag about how awesome our students are. This page, though, is specifically to give them a chance to publish and share their completed projects with the world.
It’ll be a rotating cast – as new excellence emerges, we’ll update and keep you posted with the latest greatness our students have to offer. We hope you enjoy experiencing them as much as we did seeing them be created!
“The Concept of the PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act)”
Steven is a student in Assistant Prof. Chris Sasse’s “Introduction to Corrections” course this semester (Fall 2023).
More from Steven to come!
“Leadership from Within”
Caity is not only one of our star students, she’s also a member of the Frederick County Emergency Communications Center team, as well as a guest speaker for classes elsewhere in our program.
She’s also a passionate advocate for ensuring dispatchers and telecommunicators aren’t forgotten when we talk about “first responders” – it’s not just the folks on the ground who matter; it’s also the ones who get the urgent information where it needs to go to allow everyone on the public safety team to do their jobs.
“On the Social Determinants of Health”
Beze Nkemanjong is a senior at Governor Thomas Johnson High School and a dual enrolled student at Frederick Community College in Frederick, Maryland.
She is also in her third year in the Homeland Security/Criminal Justice Program at the Career and Technology Center. Beze intends to further her education studying law and politics, and interning at the MACEM&PS is advancing her knowledge in an aspect of legal work: emergency management and public safety.
“The Application of the Five Phases of Emergency Management to Build Resilience in Rural Emergency Medical Services”
Rachel’s been a firefighter, an EMT, owned her own medical businesses, and, as of July 2022, a MACEM&PS graduate and the Emergency Manager for Purcell, Oklahoma.
