Looking at the history of emergency management, it’s easy to find events that presented challenges resulting in new ways of doing things. New Orleans Evacuteers (Evacuteer.org) recruits, trains and manages volunteers during mass evacuations.
Americans are a resilient people willing to both fund federal programs of assistance for survivors of disaster and step-up individually to meet the challenges of emergency preparedness for themselves, their families and communities. Evacuteers are just one example of what it means to build back better.
